Folding wooden chair

Chairs were first used by the Chinese beginning around the second century. These were folding chairs without a back, called huchuang or "barbarian stools" and were only used outdoors. After the habit of sitting on chairs had been firmly adopted in the tenth century, folding chairs continued to be used primarily outdoors – during military campaigns, troop inspections, or simple summer outings.
