Heavy Burden

Zou Liqing

Soyim
Beijing, China

Housed in the museum of Renmin University of China , this peach pit sculpture depicts a scene two farmers painstakingly carrying a cut-down tree in cooperation in the mountain . The crafter ingeniously used the natural creases of the peach pit to express the bulges and indention of mountain rocks. The wood is so heavy that the two’s bodies are forced bent. By revealing the hard life of farmers in the countryside, the artisan would like to stress that optimism is indispensable for every one when confronting hardships and heavy burdens in life.
