This is a book of astronomy; its sub-title is Tenmon shokei, meaning "A short cut to astronomy." There are many star charts in this book, and some very simple instruments are depicted. The author was a famous astronomer of his time. He began to make astronomical telescopes in 1793, and later became the chief telescope-maker of the Shogunate.
