Portrait of King Gustav IV Adolf wearing the uniform of the Royal Life Guards, model 1792. The blue sash denotes the Order of the Seraphim, Sweden’s highest royal order. The white armband/brassard is a symbol of his father’s coup-d’état in 1772. The distinction was worn by all officers until 1809.
