Percussion for Samullori include the kkwenggwari, janggu, buk, and jing. This folk percussion quarter uses small gongs, hourglass drums, barrel drums, and large gongs. Each instrument has a very unique timbre and is therefore often compared to the sound of thunder, rain, cloud, and wind.
