Silent evening - Scene from Lofoten

Anna Boberg is as a painter best known for her landscapes from Lofoten in northern Norway. When she and her husband, the architect Ferdinand Boberg first visited Lofoten, she was so taken by the magnificent landscape that she bought a small cabin that she furnished for a studio. There, she spent many summers to paint. She created poetically beautiful pictures of the barren, cold northern Norwegian landscape. She never drew attention in Sweden , but her art became popular in France and Italy , where she exhibited on numerous occasions, including the Venice Biennale.
