Steam engine

A steam loco on its way to Darjeeling from Ghum. The smell of coal emitted from the engine and domestic stoves or ‘angeythee’ used during the cold winters was once the scent of Darjeeling. However, with the advent of electronic heaters the smell is less obvious.
