This was a knockout tournament open to teams in the Glasgow area. The first winners were Queen's Park and, in the latter years, the competition became a one-off contest between an English Football League side and a Glasgow select. The last final was in 1966, when a Glasgow select drew 1-1 with Leeds United at Hampden Park .
