White Cotton Poke Bonnet

The screen and hood of this poke bonnet have been pulled over six whalebone rings , resulting in a particularly exalted form of towering hood that is flattened in the back and endowed with a neck veil. Two tie bands of the same material are bound beneath the chin and hold the screen in form. Such high piled poke bonnets helped create balance with wide club mutton sleeved clothing.
