MAPI provides visitors with a permanent collection of archaeological and ethnographic and musical instruments from different cultures, temporary exhibitions, courses and workshops.

The museum holds temporary exhibitions annually on various aspects related to its subject,has an educational program that annually receives more than 20,000 children and adolescents.

The collections are organized into thematic and geographical-cultural areas. One referred to the time period known as Paleoindian and five spaces devoted to different cultural regions of the continent, located in the main rooms.
