Renata Tebaldi was born on February 1st 1922 to Teobaldo Tebaldi and Giuseppina Barbieri.

At 17, she entered the Conservatorio of Parma studying piano with Ettore Campogalliani and successively at the  “Liceo Musicale Gioachino Rossini” in Pesaro with the celebrated soprano Carmen Melis.

She made her debut on 23 May 1944 at the Teatro Sociale in Rovigo in the role of Elena in Arrigo Boito’s Mefistofele.

At the inaugural concert at La Scala, under the direction of Arturo Toscanini, Renata sang the “Preghiera” of Rossini’s Mose in Egitto   and the solo from Verdi’s  “Te Deum”.

On this occasion, Arturo Toscanini described Tebaldi’s voice as “ the voice of an angel ”.

1947-1948

Renata Tebaldi began her bright career in the major theaters: Milan, Venice, Naples, Rome, Florence, Catania etc ... .. achieving sensational successes everywhere.

The increasingly sensational successes of Renata's career put her in front of the opportunity to settle in Milan, where she will live until the last days.
