Auto-Group Tabs

This has become one of my must have extensions. Makes tracking my tabs 100x easier as I tend to collect tabs like crazy (currently have 50+ tabs and sometimes multiple widows with 30+). The Chromium bug fix finally rolled out to Chrome so I was able to re-enable this and I severely missed while I had it disabled. Thank you for the kind words! Unfortunately, no, there is no way for the extension to manage the saved tab groups in any way, Chrome simply does not expose an API for this. If you don't use the feature and want to avoid the cluttered bookmarks, you can right click the bookmarks bar and uncheck "Show Tab Groups". It's not a fix, but at least it won't bother you anymore.

One of the top 10 Chrome extensions of all time. It’s incredibly helpful for keeping tabs under control. I honestly don’t know how I managed without it before. There are a few minor bugs, like tab group names occasionally disappearing or repeating in the bookmarks bar, but the value it provides easily outweighs those small issues.

Hey Leon Thanks for the kind words. Unfortunately, the bugs you're describing are not bugs in the extension but issues with the browser which the extension cannot solve. :( But at least teh diesappearing group names should be fixed with the Chrome 146 release from this week. :)

a feature so good it should be built-in. well done ty

I have been using this extension for quite sometime now, it worked great. Currently when I try to add pattern and "drag + click" multi-text, it closes the pop-up :( Additionally, looks like there is some chromium bug on group names which is affecting all auto tab extensions, this as well. Hopefully it gets fixed soon :)

The group names bug will be fixed in Chrome 146 (out in a week or so). The text selection bug in the pop-up seems to be a browser bug as well, although I don't have full confirmation on that yet (see https://github.com/loilo/auto-group-tabs/issues/80). At least when I tested, the problem would not occur in Chrome Canary (version 147), although it still happens in Chrome Beta (v146).

Excellent extension! I am using it for more than a year now and it makes every workday better. BTW Mine was also messed-up by the recent chrome bug and I'm waiting for the chrome-fix to land on my pc.

Keeps messing up the group tab names and replace them with 1 tab or blank when I reopen a group tab on Chrome or Brave. It works on Firefox, but still bugs out using this extension or any auto group tab extension on Edge, Chrome, or Brave.

This is unfortunately a recent Chromium bug affecting all related browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge, Opera, ...) Fortunately, this has already been fixed (see https://issues.chromium.org/issues/483537691), but it will take some time until it is released everywhere. Nothing I can do about with the extension, unfortunately.

Hi, labels sometimes vanish and I am forced to close and open the group tab the to make it reappear (but breaks again after opening a new tab). I am using Brave browser, I don't know if it affects only Brave but used to work flawless before. I hope you can look into this issue 🙏

Hey there. What you're describing is a recent Chromium bug, so it doesn't affect only Brave, but all Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave, ...) at the moment. On the bright side, this has already been fixed by the Chromium team, and the fix will be out with Chromium 146 and then all browsers based on that. Sorry for the inconvenience, but there's nothing I can do about this in the extension.

Just discovered this and it's really helpful! Thanks for creating this! I'm currently adding tab group support to the "Search Bookmarks, History and Browser Tabs" extension and this is playing very well with your extension. It auto-tags and organizes the tabs for me.

Please exculde PINNED tabs then it will be perfect !
