Hey Daniel, give it another shot! We recently pushed an update and it should work now. We’ve also introduced some new features, including a sidebar mode so you don't have to open a new tab every time. It’s totally optional but worth a try!

"Open ChatGPT with Selected text" does indeed open ChatGPT, but does not copy the selected text.

We recently pushed an update and it should work now! Also added a few new features, like instead of opening a new tab, you can choose to have it open in a sidebar. It is optional but if you are interested try it out!

This likely works only on the premium version because, for a brief moment, the selected text appears in ChatGPT's text box before disappearing, while the premium icon is displayed in that moment on top of the account profile picture.

as @Jan Cestr said, I would welcome the ability to open text in chatgpt via a keyboard shortcut, with the additional option to start a new chat or continue in the most recent
