Any chance to support user/password for socks5? Really need this to buypass censorship...
Hi Mikhail Gerasimov, Unfortunately, Chrome extensions currently cannot support username/password authentication for SOCKS5 proxies. The chrome.webRequest.onAuthRequired API only works with HTTP and HTTPS proxies, and there’s no API available to handle SOCKS5 authentication directly. For HTTP/HTTPS proxies, extensions can fill in credentials automatically, but for SOCKS5, the only options are external solutions such as: Using a system-level SOCKS5 proxy where the OS handles the authentication. Running a local HTTP-to-SOCKS5 proxy (like Privoxy or Clash) that Chrome can connect to, which then forwards traffic to the SOCKS5 server with authentication. Best regards, Jin Zhenzu
