NIST 800-34 - Contingency Planning

The  National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) , within the U.S. Department of Commerce, creates standards and guidelines pertaining to information security. NIST developed  Special Publication 800-34 (SP 800-34), Contingency Planning Guide for Federal Information Systems , to provide instructions and recommendations for information technology systems contingency planning.

Google has documented its contingency planning processes against the requirements of SP 800-34 and was assessed by an independent third party. Based on this evaluation, Google Cloud Platform has received a letter of attestation that Google has met the contingency planning requirements outlined in SP 800-34. The  NIST 800-34 attestation letter  can be used by enterprises to validate Google’s approach to contingency planning.
