Share custom keys and content IDs (Beta)

Google Ad Manager inventory sharing custom key and content ID support
This feature is in beta release to a few customers.

When you set up a partner assignment to  share inventory with another Google Ad Manager network , you have the option of sharing custom keys and content IDs.

The sharing of custom keys and content IDs requires manual coordination between an inventory sharer (the Host) and sharee (the Partner) in order to function correctly.

Google Ad Manager

Share custom keys

Sharing custom keys allows the Partner to target and report on Host's user and contextual metadata. To share custom keys:

  1. The Host and Partner must coordinate offline to determine which keys and values to share. If the Partner has different key names from the Host, they can share their preferred key names. For example, the Host uses show_title but the Partner uses series_name .
  2. The Host must pass the agreed custom parameters on ad requests to Ad Manager.
  3. When creating a partner assignment, the Host selects which keys they allow to be shared with the Partner, and the corresponding name of the key in the Partner's network.

When setting up custom keys in Ad Manager, "Custom key" refers to the key name in Host's network, and "Shared custom key" refers to the key name ( not the display name ) in Partner's network.
  4. On the incoming partner assignment, the Partner can confirm which custom-keys are shared with them.
  5. To enable keys to show up in reports, both partners need to mark the keys as reportable in their respective networks.

Share content IDs

This use case is most relevant for a distributor (Host) to a programmer (Partner) share.

Sharing content IDs allows the Partner to use their own content metadata for targeting and reporting on the shared inventory. To share content IDs:

  1. Offline, the Partner shares the content source ID and video IDs for their content with the Host.
  2. The Host must pass these IDs on their ad request as custom parameters. For example: cust_params=partner_cms%3D123%26partner_vid%3D456 . The Host can decide how to name these custom parameters.

This ad request originates from the Host's end point, and requires development work. Learn how to set up cust_params .
  3. When creating a partner assignment, the Host must provide these custom keys to be shared to the Partner. For example, partner_cms and partner_vid .
  4. On the incoming partner assignment, the Partner can confirm that Host has enabled content ID sharing.
  5. In ad serving, the content IDs are passed on the inventory share, allowing the Host to use content, bundle, and CMS metadata targeting and reporting.
