Manage Chrome side panel

In the side panel of your computer, you can find:

  • Reading list
  • Bookmarks
  • History
  • Google Lens and more
Manage side panel
  • To resize side panel:On the side of the panel, select and hold Drag.
  • To change the location of the side panel:
    1. On your computer, open Chrome.
    2. Select Moreand then Settingsand then Appearance.
    3. Under "Side panel," select the side you want the panel to open.
  • To close side panel:At the top right, select CloseClose.
Pin and unpin a specific side panel

You can pin a specific side panel in Chrome. You can pin:

  • Google Lens
  • Reading list
  • Bookmarks
  • History
  • Reading mode

Pin a specific side panel

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a website.
  3. At the top right, select More.
  4. To pin:
    • Google Lens:Select Search with Google Lens.
    • Reading list:Select Bookmarks and listsand then Reading listand then Show reading list.
    • Bookmarks:Select Bookmarks and listsand then Show all bookmarks.
    • History:Select Historyand then Grouped history.
    • Reading mode:Select More toolsand then Reading mode.
  5. Next to the icon name, select Pin to toolbar.
    • On the left, next to "Profile," you can find Google Lens, Bookmarks , Reading mode, Reading list, or History.

Unpin a specific side panel

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. On the left, next to "Profile," you can select:
    • Google Lens
    • Reading list
    • Bookmarks
    • History
    • Reading mode
  3. Next to the icon name, select Unpin from toolbar.

Tip:You can also right-click on an icon and select Unpin.
