Fix text that isn't displaying properly

If you see squares instead of text on webpages, or text is blurry or fuzzy, follow the steps below to try fixing the issue.

Text looks fuzzy or blurry (Windows only)

If text doesn’t look clear on your computer, try changing your font settings.

Step 1: Use the text tuner

1. On your Windows computer, click the Start menu: or.
2. In the search box, type ClearType . When you see  Adjust ClearType Text, click it or press enter.
3. In the ClearType Text Tuner, check the box next to "Turn on ClearType."
4. Click Next, then complete the steps.
5. Click Finish.

Step 2: Change your Windows appearance settings

If Step 1 doesn't work, try changing your Windows appearance settings. This step is most helpful for displays with high resolution.

1. On your Windows computer, click the Start menu: or.
2. In the search box, type Appearance . When you see  Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows, click it or press enter.
3. Next to "Smooth edges of screen fonts," uncheck the box.
4. Click Apply.
5. Open Chrome again.
