Text customization is a campaign-level setting that is available through AI Max for Search campaigns . Enabling the setting will help you generate additional assets (headlines and descriptions) to be used in combination with the assets you input for your responsive search ads .

View the Google customized text assets that are used in your ads
You can view the Google customized text assets used in your ads in the asset report to view which assets are being used in the responsive search ads. To review the actual combinations and ads that served for transparency purpose, you can view the combination report.
Are Google customized text assets counted towards the responsive search ads limits?
Google customized text assets don't contribute towards the 15 headlines and 4 description lines for responsive search ads .
Are Google customized text assets the same as account level automated assets?
No. Account level automated assets , such as dynamic sitelinks, dynamic structured snippets, dynamic callouts, and more, are enabled at the account level while text customization, which helps you generate additional assets (headlines and descriptions), is a campaign level setting.
How can I view text customization reporting at scale?
Campaign level asset reporting is the best way to view text customization reporting at scale. Follow the above instructions to access campaign level asset reporting .
Are all Google customized text assets expected to serve?
Google customized text assets are eligible to serve when generated. Assets may be generated and then determined as poor performers because the context can change from generation to serving, such as editing the ad, keywords, or landing page. The system will automatically remove the asset when it determines it won’t perform after some time, if an asset is assigned a "Low performance" label, or if the source of the asset changes.
Will I be able to remove a Google customized text asset if it's not suitable?
Yes. Follow the above instructions for removing individual assets .
How can I view Ad Strength?
You can view Ad Strength in the "Ad strength" column on the Ads page.
The "Ad strength" column in the table shows an ad's Ad Strength rating such as "Average" or "Excellent." You can click the rating to view feedback on improving your ad along with a link to where you can make that change.
How is generative AI being used to create Google customized text assets?
Generative AI can generate assets to be more relevant to the searcher’s query while remaining accurate to the offering of the advertiser based on the ad’s final URL. Advertisers with English assets are eligible for Google customized text assets generated using generative AI. You can view Google customized text assets in reporting and you can also remove individual assets by following these instructions .
What are the instructions for the legacy automatically created assets settings?
Note: Starting May 27, 2025, automatically created assets will begin upgrading into AI Max in Search campaigns settings as "text customization". To turn on text customization, you'll need to use the feature in AI Max. After you disable the legacy Automatically Created Assets feature, you won't be able to enable it again.
Turn on automatically created assets for an existing campaign
Note: This setting will begin upgrading into AI Max settings as “Text customization” starting on May 26, 2025. You may need to reference the new opt-in experience within AI Max above to enable it.
- Go to Campaigns
in the Campaignsmenu
.
- Select the Settingstab on top, then select the checkbox next to the campaign that you want to edit.
- Select Edit, then select Change automatically created assets settingsfrom the drop-down.
- Select the button next to "On".
- Select Turn on, then click Apply.

Turn off automatically created assets
Note: This setting will begin upgrading into AI Max settings as “Text customization” starting on May 26, 2025. If you turn off the legacy Automatically Created Assets feature, you will need to opt back in through the new experience within AI Max.
Follow these steps to opt-out of automatically created assets:
- Go to Campaigns
in the Campaignsmenu
.
- Select the Settingstab on top, then select the checkbox next to the campaigns that you want to edit.
- Select Edit, then select Change automatically created assets settingsfrom the drop-down.
- Select the radio button next to "Off: Use only assets I provide directly for my ads".
- (Optional) Select a reason for which you are disabling the automatically created assets.
- Select Apply.
- When you disable automatically created assets, they'll be reported as "Removed" and no longer serve.
