About phone number verification

Improve lead quality for your lead form assets by requiring phone number verification. This feature reduces spam and ensures you receive valid contact numbers. By enabling verification, you can connect with high-intent customers more effectively.

When you enable the phone number verification feature, your total number of leads and cost per lead (CPL) may be affected.

How it works

Phone number verification is a feature that adds a one-time password (OTP) step to your lead forms. It confirms a user's intent and validates their contact information before the lead is sent to you. This process helps filter out bots and ensures your sales team receives more actionable leads. Keep in mind that this feature currently only supports Search campaigns.

Enable phone number verification

  1. Go to Campaigns within the CampaignsmenuCampaigns Icon.
  2. Click the plus button, then select New campaign.
  3. Select “Leads” as your campaign objective, then select "Search" as your chosen campaign type.
  4. Under the “Ads” section during campaign creation, select + Lead forms, then select New lead form.
  5. Navigate to the “Questions” section of your lead form, then click to open the dropdown for “Contact information”.
  6. Select the checkboxes for “Name” and “Phone number”. Under “Phone number”, select the checkbox to “Require phone number verification”.
  7. Select Save, then complete the rest of your campaign creation.
  8. After campaign creation, you’ll find a “Phone number verified” field along with your lead information when you download your leads in a CSV file or receive leads in your CRM system using webhook or Google Ads API.
Note:You can also edit your existing lead form assets to enable phone number verification.

Keep in mind

  • SMS delivery: Verification is currently only conducted through SMS.
  • Code expiration: The OTP typically expires after 15 minutes.
  • Submission requirement: If a user doesn’t successfully verify their phone number, the system won’t submit the lead.
