You can join a video meeting from Google Meet, Google Calendar, or Gmail.
To join a meeting, you can also:

Tip:Certain Workspace admins can restrict your access to their meetings.
Google Workspace for Education
By default, any meetings organized by Google Workspace users. This excludes Workspace Individual users.
Your Google Workspace admin controls what meetings you can join and can change this to:
- Only join meetings organized by someone in your school.
- Join meetings organized by anyone.
Google Workspace
By default, any meetings organized by personal account, Google One, Google Workspace, or Google Workspace Individual users.
Your Google Workspace admin controls what meetings you can join and can change this to:
- Only join meetings organized by someone in your organization.
- Only join meetings organized by Google Workspace users. This doesn't include Workspace Individual subscribers.

Tips:
- Some Workspace admins might stop their users from joining the meetings you organize.
- Users who haven’t signed in to a Google Account must request to join.
- If you’re a Workspace Individual user, people who dial-in by phone can also join your meetings.
Google Workspace for Education
By default, only users in your school and anyone who dial-in with a phone.
Your admin can change this to:
- Anyone signed in with a Google Account or those who dial-in with a phone.
- Everyone, even users not signed in with a Google Account.
Google Workspace
By default, all Google Account users and those who haven’t signed in to a Google Account.
Your admin can change this to:
- Only users in your organization or anyone who dial-in with a phone.
- Anyone signed in with a Google Account.
- Everyone, even users not signed in with a Google Account.
Join a video meeting from Google Meet
In Google Meet, to join a video meeting:
- On your computer, go to meet.google.com .
- Select a meeting from your list of scheduled events.
- Or, use a meeting code or nickname:
- Enter the meeting code or nickname.
- Click Join.
- Or, use a meeting code or nickname:
- In the window that opens, click Join now.
Tips:
- When the first 5 participants join, you can hear a chime sound. After that, you get a silent notification for new participants.
- You can only use meeting nicknames with people in your organization. This is currently available only to Google Workspace users.

You can find your scheduled meetings in Calendar and join a video meeting.
- On your computer, go to Google Calendar .
- Select the event.
- Click Join with Google Meet.
- In the window that opens, click Join now.
If your Google Workspace admin allows it, you can also join from other video meeting devices .
If you don’t have enough time to schedule a meeting or book a room, you can join a video meeting with a link.
- Open the chat message or email with the meeting link.
- Click the meeting link.
- In the window that opens, click Join now.
Tip:If you're not on the calendar invite, you need to request to join and the meeting organizer or a participant must let you in.
Important:
- You can only dial-in if the meeting is organized by a Google Workspace user.
- A dial-in number is only added when admins turn on the dial-in feature.
If your Google Workspace admin allows it, you can call in for audio-only access from 15 minutes before the meeting starts until it ends. Someone in the meeting can let you in sooner.
You can be from a different organization or use a different Google Workspace edition than the event organizer. If you're in the organizer's directory, your name shows in the meeting. If not, it shows as “Private caller.”
- Participants should always verify the identity of callers.
- Anyone who calls in counts toward the maximum participant limit.
- Regular call charges apply.

Dial-in with a phone number
Important:
- If you try to call into a meeting before it starts, you might get an error that the PIN isn’t recognized.
- For the list of supported countries or regions, refer to countries where you can use a phone with Meet .
- In the Meet or Calendar app, tap the dial-in number.
- Or, you can:
- Dial the number shown in the Google Calendar event or meeting invitation.
- Enter the PIN, followed by “#”.
- Or, you can:
- To mute or unmute, press *6.
Tips:
- All Google Workspace editions include a US phone number.
- These Google Workspace editions support international numbers in video meetings:
- G Suite Basic
- G Suite Business
- Google Workspace Essentials
- Enterprise
- Education Plus
- If your organization turns on “Meet Global Dialing,” additional international numbers become available.
- Long distance and usage charges from your phone carrier may apply.

To join a meeting, select the event from the list of scheduled events.

Use third-party devices
If your organization allows it, you can join meetings from third-party devices. If you’re an admin, learn how to allow 3rd party devices .
If you use a Zoom Rooms or Cisco Webex device:
To join a meeting, select the event from the list of scheduled events.
- Or, use the meeting code or nickname.
- On your meeting device, open the Google Meet app.
- Enter the meeting code.
If you use other third-party devices with Pexip:
- On your computer, go to Google Calendar .
- Select the event you want to join.
- Click More joining options Third-party systems.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Tip:If you join from a third-party device:
- You must use the third-party controls. Without third-party controls, you can’t use features like:
- Turn your camera or microphone on or off
- Meeting chat
- Record meetings
- Admit or remove other participants
- Mute or unmute other participants
- Other Meet participants can't mute your room.
You can join a meeting without a Google Account, but the organizer or a participant needs to let you in.
- On your computer, to join a meeting:
- With a meeting link:
- Open the chat message or email with the meeting link.
- Click the meeting link.
- From Google Meet:
- Go to meet.google.com .
- Click Enter code.
- Enter the meeting code.
- Click Join.
- With a meeting link:
- Enter your name.
- Click Ask to join.

- When you join a meeting, to fix issues and for audit purposes, we share your meeting identifiers, like email or phone number with the host.
- If you use a personal Google Account and when a user flagged for bad behavior joins the meeting, the moderator gets a message. The message shows “This person is suspected of being bad in the past."
