You can provide feedback or report a problem with NotebookLM in multiple ways.
- On your computer, open NotebookLM .
- Select Settings
Send Feedback.
- Enter your feedback. You can choose to add a screenshot to help us better understand the issue.
- At the bottom, click Send.
Report a shared notebook
If you find content in a shared notebook that you believe violates the law, let us know. We'll review the material and consider blocking, limiting, or removing access to it.
To report this content:
- Open a notebook.
- Go to Settings
Report notebook.

Report public notebooks
You can report public notebooks that you consider to contain a violation of Google's Terms of Service , including the Prohibited Use Policy . Violations include:
- Spam, malware, and phishing
- Violence
- Hate speech
- Terrorist content
- Harassment, bullying, and threats
- Sexually explicit material
- Illegal activities
To report a violation:
- Open a notebook.
- Go to Settings
Report notebook.
- Choose the type of abuse found in the file. Each abuse type has a description to help you determine if the file has violated our policies.
- Click Submit Abuse Report.
Reports don't guarantee removal of the file or any other action on Google's part. Content that you disagree with or deem inappropriate is not always a violation of Google's Terms of Service or program policies.
Actions we may take on abusive material:
- Deleting the notebook
- Suspending access to the notebook
- Limiting who can view the notebook
- Report illegal materials to appropriate law enforcement authorities
What happens when you send feedback
When you share thumbs up or thumbs down feedback, we’ll collect the associated content – like your prompts, customizations, sources, uploads, and the outputs received (e.g., chats, audio overviews, video overviews, reports, mind maps, source discovery, etc.) – so we can understand the issue. This data is handled in line with our Google Privacy Policy and is used to help us improve the product for everyone.
How Google uses your feedback
Your thumbs up or down feedback, any included content (e.g., your queries, uploads, model responses, generated outputs like video overviews, audio overviews, chats, source discovery, etc.), and related data are:
- Reviewed by specially trained teams. Human review is necessary to help identify, address, and report potential problems raised in feedback. In some cases, this is required by law. We take steps to protect your privacy as part of this process. This includes disconnecting your feedback from your Google Account before reviewers see or annotate them. Please help us by not including any confidential or sensitive information in your feedback.
- Used consistent with the Google Privacy Policy. Google uses this data to provide, improve, and develop Google products, services, and machine-learning technologies. This is explained in more detail in our Privacy Policy

- For example, we use this data to make NotebookLM safer. It helps us detect and avoid unsafe requests or responses in the future.
- Retained for up to 3 years. Reviewed feedback, included content, and related data are retained for up to 3 years, disconnected from your Google Account.
- Google Workspace or Google Workspace for Education users. Your uploads, queries and the model's responses in NotebookLM will not be reviewed by human reviewers even when you provide thumbs up or down feedback, and will not be used to train AI models.
NotebookLM Terms of Service:
For users who access NotebookLM through a work account, the Google Cloud Terms of Service apply.
For users who access NotebookLM through a school account, the Google Workspace for Education Terms of Service apply.
For users who access NotebookLM through Google Cloud, the Google Cloud Platform/SecOps Terms of Service apply.
For other users accessing NotebookLM, the Google Terms of Service apply to your use of NotebookLM.

Copyright
Respect copyright laws. Do not share copyrighted content without the necessary rights to do so. It’s our policy to respond to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement. Repeated infringement of intellectual property rights, including copyright, will result in account termination.
Some of our services, including NotebookLM, allow you to generate original content. Google won't claim ownership over that content. If you see a violation of Google's copyright policies, report copyright infringement .
