How to use Charging optimizationYou can make your battery last longer with Charging optimization. By learning your charging habits, your phone lessens the time it spends fully charged. You can also limit charging to 80%.
To turn on Charging optimization:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Battery
Battery health
Charging optimization.
- Turn on Use charging optimization.
When you’ve turned it on, choose a setting:
- Adaptive Charging:To optimize battery health while charging to 100%, tap this option.
- This setting completes charging right before you typically unplug, so your phone isn’t at 100% for a long time. This can strain the battery long term.
- This feature needs about 14 days to learn your charging habits. If your charging habits become different like when you travel, Adaptive Charging may not turn on.
- When Adaptive Charging is turned on, a notification shows the time your battery will be fully charged.
- Limit to 80%:To prioritize the long-term health of your battery, tap this option.
- This setting is ideal if you usually end the day with some charge left.
- When you need longer battery life, turn this option off. Your phone then reaches a full 100% charge.
Tip:To keep its battery capacity readings accurate, your Pixel needs to fully charge at every 10th cycle. This applies even if you have the “Limit to 80%” option turned on. To finish the process, leave your phone plugged in for at least 30 minutes after the screen shows 100%. Learn more about the cycle count .
When your phone is charging with a Pixelsnap Charger or Pixel Stand 1st and 2nd gen and you’re not using it, you can make a custom screen saver to show:
- A clock
- Your photos
- Home controls
To use this feature:
- Open your phone’s Settings app.
- Tap Display & touch
Screen saver.
- Turn on Use screen saver.
- Choose the settings you want.
Tip:If you have a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, or Pixel 10 Pro Fold, you’ll get a set up message the first time you charge with a Pixelsnap Charger.
