When using the data migration service, you monitor your users' migration status in the Google Admin console. You can also use the Admin console to download or email reports on migration status and any errors during or after a migration. An email notification is only sent to you when you exit a migration.
You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

Before you beginTo review data for a user or your organization:
- Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.
If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.
- Click Go to classic migration service.
View user’s migration status
You can review the progress of a user's migration in the Status column.
If there's an error, there might be an error description, error code, and a link to more information. You can also download an error report (details below).
When the migration finishes, the word Completeappears in the Status column. To view data about a migration, point to Completeto review:
- Items successfully migrated
- Items that failed to migrate
- Total items discovered
Download & review a user's error report
During or after a migration, you can download an error report for one or more users to your Tasks list .
- For Migrations, select a user and click More Download user error report.
- If prompted, select the format of the report.
This option might not be currently available to your organization.
- Click Download.
- If the Tasks list doesn’t open automatically with the downloaded report, click Tasks.
- For Your Tasks, click the link to open the file.
- (Optional) To view the status of tasks performed by other administrators, click Others' Tasks.
- (Optional) To close your Tasks list, click Tasks.
You can review the migration status of all users by reviewing the data migration service reports. There are 2 types of reports:
- Migration item error report
- Details any email or calendar items that didn’t migrate.
- You can email or download this report from the Admin console.
- If you choose to email the report, there is a 2,000 item limit. If the report has more than 2,000 items, you can review items that didn’t migrate in each user’s individual error report instead. For details, on this page, go to Check the status of an individual user .
- There is no item limit if the report is downloaded.
- Domain migration report
- Contains the status of all users and is organized by the type of data you're migrating, for example, email or contacts data.
- You can email this report from the Admin console at any time during a migration.
- When you exit a migration, a domain migration report is automatically sent to all super administrators and the role account. Learn more about how to Exit a completed migration .
Option 1: Email the reports
Use this option to email the both reports to selected recipients.
- For Migrations, click More Email reports.
- Choose the recipients of the reports:
- To send the reports to super administrators in your organization, select Send to Super Admins. Learn more about super administrators .
- To send the reports to the role account for the migration, select Send to Source Role Account. This option is only available when using a role account. Learn more about role accounts .
- To send the reports to specific email addresses, select Additional Recipientsand enter the email addresses.
- Click Send.
Option 2: Download the migration item error report
This option might not be currently available to your organization.
Use this option to download the report to your Tasks list .
- For Migrations, click More Download the migration item error report.
- Select the format of the report and click Download.
- If the Tasks list doesn’t open automatically with the downloaded report, click Tasks.
- For Your Tasks, click the link to open the file.
- (Optional) To view the status of tasks performed by other administrators, click Others’ Tasks.
- (Optional) To close your Tasks list, click Tasks.

Email domain migration report- Running—The migration is in progress.
- Completed—The migration has finished.
- Stopped—The migration is paused. For details, go to Pause & restart a migration .
- Failing—The migration is currently unsuccessful and will be retried.
- Failed—The migration has not been successful. Refer to the status detail column for additional information.
- Not started—The migration hasn't begun.
- Unknown—The migration's status is unidentified.
- Initializing—The migration is starting.
- Running—The migration is in progress.
- Completed—The migration has finished.
