As the family manager, you can invite up to 5 people to join your family group. You can also remove people from your family group, or delete the family group.
Add family members
You can add family members who:
- Live in the same country as you.
- Are at least 13 years old (or the applicable age in your country
).
- Kids under 13 can only be added if the family manager created the child’s supervised Google Account.
Tip:When someone joins your family group, you’ll get an email notification.
- Go to g.co/YourFamily .
- Select Send invitations.
- Enter your family member's email address.
- Select Send.
Remove someone from your family group
If you're the family manager, you can remove people from your family group in several ways.
Important:Children require supervision, if they're below 13 years old (or the applicable age in your country ).
- To remove a child below 13 years old (or the applicable age in your country ) from your family group, you must either delete the child’s supervised Google Account or transfer supervision to another parent.
- To remove a supervised user who's above the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your country ) from your family group you must stop supervision for that user. That user can later choose to start supervision again.
To remove any other user from your family group:
- Go to g.co/YourFamily .
- Select the family member you want to remove.
- Select Remove member Remove.
The person you remove from your family group:
- Keeps their Google Account and any content on their device purchased with the family payment method.
- Can't make new purchases with the family payment method, or access any services your family group shares.
- Gets an email alert when they're removed.
- Loses access to anything in your Family Library.
- Loses access to your shared storage if your family shares a Google One membership.
- If they’re out of storage, their files stay safe but they can’t store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space .
- Loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
If the person you want to remove:
- Made a purchase with the family payment method and it’s already in process:You're still charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases .
- Added content to the Family Library:If you set up a Google Play Family Library, any content they added is removed and other family members lose access to that content.
Delete your family group
Important:In order to delete your family group, you must first transfer supervision of any children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country ) in your family group or delete the child's supervised Google Account , and for a supervised user who's above the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your country ) you must first stop supervision.
If you're the family manager, you can delete your family group.
- Go to g.co/YourFamily .
- Find and select Delete family group.
Important:Once you delete a family group, you can't restore it.
- Adults and supervised users above 13 (or the applicable age in your country ) in your family group keep their Google Accounts and any content on their device they purchased with the family payment method.
- If your family members made a purchase with the family payment method and it's already in process, you're still charged, but you can request a refund for unwanted or accidental purchases .
- If you set up Google Play Family Library, everyone from your family group loses access to the Family Library content that other family members added.
- If you subscribed to a family plan like YouTube Premium or Google One, your family loses access to that service.
- If your family shares a Google One membership, your family loses access to the shared storage.
- If your family members run out of storage, their files stay safe but they can't store new things. Learn what happens when they run out of space .
- Everyone from your family loses access to extra member benefits and Google experts.
- If you delete your family group, you can only create or join another family group once in the next 12 months.
