This kit can be used to convert a gramophone to an electric sound pickup. You need a gramophone, a tube radio receiver as the amplifier, and a speaker. The electric sound pickup is mounted on the tonearm of the gramophone and replaces the conventional membrane sound box. The first record player with its own electric amplifier and built-in speaker was eventually launched in 1928.
