ChatGPT Performance Long Chats is a lightweight Chrome extension that eliminates lag and improves responsiveness in long ChatGPT conversations. As chats grow larger—especially with detailed explanations, long-form writing, or extensive code blocks—performance often slows down due to the growing number of rendered messages in the browser. This extension optimizes how conversations are loaded and displayed to keep ChatGPT smooth and fast. Instead of loading and rendering the entire conversation at once, the extension limits the initial history load and automatically collapses older messages, keeping only the most recent ones visible. This significantly reduces DOM size and improves scroll performance in long chats. When you scroll upward, previously hidden messages are revealed automatically, allowing you to access more of the conversation on demand. You can choose between different loading modes to balance performance and context, or disable the limit entirely. Whether you are reviewing code, writing long technical prompts, doing research, or managing extended discussions, the extension keeps ChatGPT responsive even in very large conversations. The extension runs entirely client-side. It does not collect data, does not track you, and does not send any information to external servers. All processing happens locally in your browser on chatgpt.com.
