Really liking this so far. I use a bunch of free extensions and didn’t realize how many were kinda sketchy. I ended up deleting almost half of them. Never really thought about protecting my computer from extensions before, but honestly glad I have this now.

As a developer with over 5 years of experience, I believe tools intended to support the community should be built with proper domain expertise and responsibility. In this case, the extension appears to make claims that are not well-supported by a clear or reliable methodology. Based on my experience, I did not find its analysis to be particularly useful or trustworthy. Users are advised to proceed with caution and independently verify any results before relying on them.

Developers with real security experience usually point to a specific technical flaw or reproducible issue, not just a broad conclusion. Independent verification is good practice for any security tool. At the same time, broad claims that the system is not trustworthy are not very useful without a specific technical example, scan result, or reproducible issue. For transparency, this reviewer was previously engaged as an Upwork contractor to contribute to this repository. The engagement ended after expected delivery and QA standards were not met, and some issues were attributed to “platform changes” in a way that did not align with my assessment of the work. The matter was formally reported through the platform. I’m sharing this context so readers understand there is prior history behind this review. On the product itself, ExtensionShield uses a deterministic, multi-layer methodology combining static analysis, permission and privacy analysis, external threat intelligence such as VirusTotal, and governance rules.
