Option to enable/disable "Open folder"

Hello, first of all, congratulations on this extension.

I would like to request a feature. Would it be possible to add an option to disable the opening of folders? In my case, I have folders with lots of bookmarks, and if I make a mistake and click the middle button on one of them, I crash the browser.

Thank you very much.

Superb Extension...

I used to have "Neater Bookmarks" which now no longer works but fortunately came across this terrific extension which is even better than Neater Bookmarks!!The only thing I'd like is if it was possible to have a search function and to choose a custom icon instead of the built in ones (I previously used a tiny red star png - like the default star but red) but apart from that tiny niggle it's excellent ;-)

Usurps the "bm" search engine shortcut without permission or notification

This extension adds a search engine to Brave, but it is not listed in the search engines (brave://settings/searchEngines). I was reviewing settings in Brave when I happened to go to brave://settings/searchEngines, and noticed at the bottom that this extension was listed as adding a search engine to Brave. There is nothing in the UI for this extension that even hints it has a search function.

This extension adds a hidden search engine. See https://github.com/rpkamp/chrome-minimal-bookmarks-tree/issues/2 where the author added a "bm" shortcut to search this extension's bookmarks. I had "bm" assigned to Bing Maps, but this extension usurped that shortcut, and without my permission and without notice. So, now I cannot define "bm" to open "https://www.bing.com/maps/default.aspx?q=%s" to open Bing Maps from the address bar.

There is no option to disable this extension's fixed use of "bm" to search its bookmarks nor an option to change the shortcut keyword. I had to define "bmap" for the Bing Maps shortcut, but I should not have to do so nor should this extension have usurped the "bm" keyword. This extension should NOT add a search engine without notifying the user, and this extension should not hide the shortcut keyword when viewing the list of search engines.

MS Edge also lets you define multiple search engines with each having its own keyword. However, Edge's bookmark icon works very well, so I did not install this extension in Edge. I don't like Brave's mandate of using its Sidebar to show bookmarks, and which remains displayed after selecting a bookmark, so I select a bookmark, and have to close the Sidebar. Very clumsy and non-intuitive. So, I added this extension to Brave to give me a very quick and easy means of selecting bookmarks. I didn't realize it would usurp my "bm" keyword for Bing Maps as a search engine, plus I can't see "bm" in the list of search engines, so this extension adds a hidden search engine.

I find this as rude behavior by this extension. Imagine if it usurped Ctrl+P without permission, without notice, and with no option to change the keyword for its otherwise hidden search engine which would then kill the Print function. Brave, Edge, and other web browsers allow users to define multiple search engines that can be called using a keyword in the address bar. This author needs to be polite in adding its own search engine. An option should enable/disable its search engine, if enabled then it checks if the default "bm" is already taken, and, if so, offer the user to choose something else. That it does this hidden is rude. It should overtly add its search engine with keyword into the list of search engines listed within the web browser. This extension's search function needs to be redesigned to prevent it stepping on what may already be defined for a search engine.

Icon cannot be changed

Well, the title says it all. I'm using the newest version of Brave Browser on Win 10 (or 11) and whenever I change the icon, it will only last until I close the browser. Upon reopening, I am greeted by the standard icon. No biggie, but a bug nonetheless.

Option to always go back to: Default expanded folder

It would be great if, after having used the extension, when clicking on the extension button you could always go back to the default expanded folder.

Searching Bookmarks

i) typing eg, "bm overdrive" in the address bar, omnibox, ctrl-k box, url box, etc should find some bookmarks
ii) what do you know, it does but only:
a) after restarting chrome
b) as a drop-down list, which disappears when you hit return

You might want to mention the restart fix in the support text.

Since this is such a useful feature for those of us who sometimes (or often) let our bookmarks get out of control, would it be possible for that list to hang around like, as an example, the result of a google search? That would make it more helpful in cleaning up or reorganizing bookmarks.

Settings for folders closed

I don't understand the Settings. I have 9 folders in my Bookmarks Bar, and when I click MBT, I want to see those 9 folders, *not* opened. But when I select the option to start MBT with folders closed, it shows me only the folder for Bookmarks Bar. If I deselect the option to start MBT with folders closed, it shows me all 9 of my folders PLUS the contents of my last-selected bookmark. How can I get what I want via settings?
