Method 1: Activate from an IDE

Install the Gemini Code Assist pluginin your preferred IDE (e.g., VS Code, Android Studio). If you don't have it, you can download the latest version fromcodeassist.google.
Sign inusing the Gemini Code Assist interface within your IDE.
Be sure to use the same Google account associated with your Google Developer Program premium subscription.
Select or create a Google Cloud projectwhen prompted by the plugin.
Once you select a project, Gemini Code Assist will be active and ready to use in
your IDE.
Note:A Google Cloud project is required to manage the service, butyou do not need to enable billing. Your Google Developer Program premium subscription covers the cost.
Method 2: Activate from the Web or CLI
Use this method if you primarily work in web-based tools that use Gemini Code
Assist like Firebase Studio or the command-line for such as Gemini CLI.
Select or create a Google Cloud project.Go to theGoogle Cloud Consoleto choose an existing project or create a new one.
Enable the API.In your selected project's dashboard, navigate to the API library and enable theGemini for Google Cloud API.
Sign in to your tool.Open your service (e.g., Firebase Studio) or terminal and sign in with the same Google Account that holds your premium subscription.
Gemini Code Assist will now be enabled in all connected Google Cloud services.
