    Assign Google Workspace with Gemini licenses

    After you add AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education to your account, you need to assign licenses to users.

    Before you begin

    • Google Workspace with Gemini is unavailable to users under age 18. Don't assign licenses to these users.
    • It may take up to 24 hours for a user's license to be assigned.

    Option 1: Assign licenses to individual users

    1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu DirectoryUsers .

      Requires having the appropriate User management privilege . Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

    2. Check the box next to each user you want to assign a license.
    3. At the top, click Assign licenses , and select AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education .
    4. Click Assign .

    Option 2: Assign licenses to all users in a CSV file

    Before you begin: Create a CSV (comma-separated values) file with the full email address of each user you want to assign a license. Add one address per line.

    1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu DirectoryUsers .

      Requires having the appropriate User management privilege . Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

    2. Check the box next to each user you want to assign a license.
    3. At the top, click Bulk update users.
    4. Click Attach CSV File .
    5. Select the file and click Upload .

    Option 3: Assign licenses to all users in an organizational unit

    1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu DirectoryUsers .

      Requires having the appropriate User management privilege . Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

    2. Check the box next to each user you want to assign a license.
    3. On the left, select the organization you want to assign licenses to. You can also search for an organization in the search field.
    4. Check the box next to Name .
      1. At the top, click Assign licenses , and select AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education .
    5. Click Assign .

    Assigning licenses to an organization only gives users in that organization a license. Users in suborganizations aren't assigned a license.

    Note : You can also automatically assign licenses to new users in your organization.

    Manage Google Workspace with Gemini licenses

    View the users who have Google Workspace with Gemini licenses

    1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu DirectoryUsers .

      Requires having the appropriate User management privilege . Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

    2. Click Add a filter Licenses assigned AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education .

    Remove licenses from individual users or organizational units

    1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu DirectoryUsers .

      Requires having the appropriate User management privilege . Without the correct privilege, you won't see all the controls needed to complete these steps.

    2. To remove Google Workspace with Gemini licenses from individual users:
      1. Check the box next to each user.
      2. At the top, click More Remove licenses .
      3. Select AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education .
      4. Click Remove .
    3. If you want to remove Google Workspace with Gemini licenses from all users in an organizational unit:
      1. At the left, click Users from select organizational units and select the organizational unit.
      2. At the top, click More Remove licenses .
      3. Select AI Ultra Access or Google AI Pro for Education
      4. Click Remove .
