Tinfoil Security cloud application

You must be signed in as a  super administrator  for this task.

With Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), your users can sign in to enterprise cloud applications with their Google Cloud credentials.

Set up SSO via SAML for Tinfoil Security

Before you begin

Before configuring SSO, do the following:

  1. Get the account ID for your organization from Tinfoil Security.
  2. In Admin console, create a custom user attribute for account ID, then add the account ID to the User information page for any Tinfoil Security users in your organization. 

Follow these steps:

  1. In Tinfoil Security, click My Account Security  SSO
  2. Copy the account ID value.
  3. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

    If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

  4. Go to Menu  Directory > Users .
  5. At the top of Userslist, click More Manage custom attributes.
    Requires the Schema Management privilege.
  6. At the top right, click Add Custom Attribute.
  7. Configure the first custom attribute as follows:
    • Category: Tinfoil Security
    • Description: Tinfoil Security Custom Attributes

    For Custom fields, enter the following:

    • Name: Account ID
    • Info type: Text
    • Visibility: Visible to organization
    • No. of values: Single Value
  8. Click Add.
  9. For Tinfoil Security users in your organization, update their user profiles to include the Account ID custom attribute. 

Step 1: Set up Google as a SAML identity provider (IdP)
  1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

    If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

  2. Click Add app Search for apps.
  3. Enter TinfoilSecurityin the search field.
  4. In the search results, hover over the Tinfoil SecuritySAML app and click Select.
  5. On the Google Identity Provider detailspage:
    • Copy and save the SSO URLand the Entity ID.
    • Download the Certificate.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. On the Service provider detailspage, keep all the default values. 
  8. Click Continue.
  9. On the Attribute mapping page, click the Select fieldmenu and map the custom Account ID attribute you created in Before you begin  to the corresponding Tinfoil Security attribute:
    Google directory attribute Tinfoil Security attribute
    Tinfoil Security > Account ID accountid
  10. (Optional) To enter group names that are relevant for this app:
    1. For Group membership (optional), click Search for a group, enter one or more letters of the group name, and select the group name.
    2. Add additional groups as needed (maximum of 75 groups).
    3. For App attribute, enter the corresponding groups attribute name of the service provider.

    Regardless of how many group names you enter, the SAML response includes only groups that a user is a member of (directly or indirectly). For more information, go to  About group membership mapping .

  11. Click  Finish.
Step 2: Set up Tinfoil Security as a SAML 2.0 service provider (SP)
  1. Open a new incognito browser window.
  2. Sign in to https://www.tinfoilsecurity.com with your organization's Tinfoil Security administrator account.
  3. Select  My Account on the right. 

  4. Click Securityon the left.

  5. Check Enable SAML.

  6. Select  Manual Configuration.

  7. In the SAML Post URLfield, enter the SSO URL you copied in step 1.

  8. In the SAML Certificate Fingerprintfield, paste the certificate you downloaded in step 1.

  9. Enter your administrator password and click  Save.
Step 3: Enable the Tinfoil Security app
  1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

    If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

  2. Select  Tinfoil Security.
  3. Click  User access.
  4. To turn a service on or off for everyone in your organization, click  On for everyoneor  Off for everyone, and then click  Save.

  5. (Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:
    1. At the left, select the organizational unit.
    2. To change the Service status, select  Onor  Off.
    3. Choose one:
      • If the Service status is set to  Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
      • If the Service status is set to  Overridden, either click Inheritto revert to the same setting as its parent, or click  Saveto keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.

  6. (Optional) To turn on a service for a set of users across or within organizational units, select an access group. For details, go to  Customize service access using access groups .
  7. Ensure that your Tinfoil Security user account email IDs match those in your Google domain.
Step 4: Verify that the SSO is working

Note:Tinfoil Security only supports IdP initiated SSO. You can’t use SSO if you sign in directly to Tinfoil Security.

  1. Sign in with a super administrator account to the Google Admin console.

    If you aren’t using a super administrator account, you can’t complete these steps.

  2. Select  Tinfoil Security.
  3. At the top left, click Test SAML login

    Tinfoil Security should open in a separate tab. If it doesn’t, use the information in the resulting SAML error messages to update your IdP and SP settings as needed, then retest SAML login.

You should be automatically redirected to your Tinfoil Security account.
