Comparison at a glance
- On your computer, open Google Calendar .
- Optional:If you want to add guests to your event, on the left click Search for peopleand start typing the names of your guests.
- Click any time on the calendar that doesn't already have an event scheduled.
- Add a title to the event, and any event details.
- Click Save.
Tip:To create a longer event, drag your mouse down the page while you're selecting the time.
If someone has shared their calendar with you, or is part of your work, school, or other organization, you can check if they're free or busy when adding them to an event.
- On your computer, open Google Calendar .
- On the left, click Search for people.
- Start typing someone’s name and choose the person you want to meet with.
- At the top left, click Create .
- Click Suggested times. If the guest you invited has shared their calendar with you, you'll see when they can attend.
- On your computer, open Google Calendar .
- Create an event or open an existing event you have edit access to.
- For new events, click More options.
- For existing events, click Edit.
- In the event, find the conferencing field.
- To remove an existing video conference, click Remove
.
- To add a new conference, click Add Google Meet video conferencing. Tip:To make sure you don't join a meeting with an expired code and to better plan for the future meetings you create, check when meeting codes expire. Learn about Google Meet meeting codes .
- If you installed a conferencing add-on from the Google Workspace Marketplace, select the conferencing provider from the “Add conferencing” dropdown menu. Learn how to install an add-on from the Marketplace .
- To remove an existing video conference, click Remove
- Click Save.
- Open Google Calendar .
- Click the event
Edit event.
- Next to Notifications
:
- To edit your notifications: Choose if you want to receive a notification or an email. You can change how often you want to get alerts in advance.
- To add another type of notification: Click Add notification.
- To remove a notification: Click Remove .
- At the top of the page, click Save.
Tip: You can choose to be notified by email, desktop alert, or both. Changes you make don't affect anyone else who's invited to the event.
Any invitations to events appear on your calendar. In Gmail, you can reply to the invitation, and it updates your calendar.
- On your computer, open Google Calendar . You can’t share calendars from the Google Calendar app.
- On the left, find the “My calendars” section. To expand it, click the Down arrow.
- Hover over the calendar you want to share, and click More Settings and sharing.
- Under “Share with specific people,” click Add people.
- Add a person’s or Google group’s email address. Use the drop-down menu to adjust their permission settings. Learn more about access permissions .
- Click Send.
- The recipient will need to click the emailed link to add the calendar to their list. Learn how to add someone else’s calendar .
Tip:To share a calendar that you don’t own, you need to ask the owner to give you “Make changes and manage sharing” permission.
- On your computer, open Google Calendar .
- In the top right, choose a view: Day, Week, Month, Year, Schedule, or 4 days.
- Open Google Calendar .
- On the left, under “My calendars,” select Tasks.
- Choose an option:
- In your calendar, click an empty slot on your calendar.
- In the top left, click Create.
- Click Task.
- Enter a title and description.
- To add the new task to a specific list, choose one from the drop down.
- Click Save.
