Subscribe to someone else’s calendar

In Google Calendar, you can subscribe to someone else's calendar if they share it with you. If someone hasn’t shared their calendar with you, you can ask for access to their primary calendar.

  • To subscribe to a new calendar, you must use a computer web browser. You can't subscribe to a calendar in the Google Calendar app for Android, iPhone, or iPad.
  • After the calendar owner approves your request, their calendar automatically appears in the Google Calendar app.

    Important:

    • You can’t subscribe to calendars that aren’t from Google.
    • If you subscribe to more than 400 calendars, you can encounter performance issues when you browse calendars.

    1. On your computer, open Google Calendar .
    2. On the left, next to “Other calendars,” click Add other calendarsand then Subscribe to calendar.
    3. In the “Add calendar” box:
      • Enter the person's email address.
      • Select a calendar from the list
    4. After you request access:
      • If the calendar isn't shared with you:The owner of the calendar gets an email that requests to give you access.
      • If the calendar is already shared with you:In your primary calendar, on the left, it shows under "Other calendars."

    Tip:When someone shares their calendar with you, you get an email with a link to add their calendar.

    Approve a request to subscribe to your calendar

    Important:If someone asks to subscribe to your calendar, you need to approve the request before they can get access to it.

    1. On a computer, open the email that requests access to your calendar.
    2. In the email, click the link.
    3. In the “Settings” page that opens, select:
      • The user
      • What the user can do to your calendar:
        • See only free/busy (hide details)
        • See all event details
        • Make changes to events
        • Make changes and manage sharing
    4. Click Send.

    Use a link to add a public calendar

    Important:You can only add a calendar with a link if the other person's calendar is public. Learn more about public calendars .

    1. On your computer, open Google Calendar .
    2. On the left, next to "Other calendars," click Add other calendarsand then From URL.
    3. Enter the URL of the published calendar.
    4. Click Add calendar.
      • The calendar displays on the left, under "Other calendars."

    Hide someone else's calendar

    1. On your computer, open Google Calendar .
    2. On the left, under “Other calendars,” uncheck the calendar you want to hide.
