Filter your search results

You can refine your results in Google Cloud Search by using the filters at the top of the results page. Search filters narrow your results based on specific criteria, such as the content type or time period. For example, you can select filters to get only Google Docs that were edited in the past week, or only emails sent by you.

Apply filters to your search results

You can use filters for only the data sources your organization has turned on for you.

  1. Sign in to Cloud Search at cloudsearch.google.com .

If you can't sign in, your account doesn't have Cloud Search. Learn more

  2. Do a search.
  3. At the top of the results page, click a source, such as Mail, Drive, or People. To use other sources, click More.
The page shows only results that match the filter.
  4. (Optional) Further refine your results based on the data source you select:
    • Google Workspace source (Mail, Drive, Sites, Groups, Calendar)—Click Search Tools.
      1. Click Any timeor another secondary filter, then select an option in the list.
      2. To remove all search tool filters, click Clear.
      3. To remove and hide all search tool filters, click Cancel.

      Filters

    • Other sources (Non-Google Workspace)—In the left panel that appears, select one or more secondary filters.
      1. To clear all filters, at the top, click  Clear All.
      2. To close the filter panel, at the top, click  Done.

  5. (Optional) To go back to unfiltered results, click All.

When I do a new search, the previous filters are still there

If you do a new search, any filters you previously applied stay in place. For example, if you filter by Mail, then do a new search, you only get Mail results, unless you select Allor another source.

Tool filters also remain active when you switch sources, unless they aren't supported by the new source. For example, if you filter on Driveand Owned by me, then select Mail, results filter by Mail, but search tools automatically clear because Owned by medoesn't apply to Mail.

Tip:Another way you can refine your results is to use search operators in your search query.
