Get help with a WhatsApp backup

Your WhatsApp backup is managed by WhatsApp, even when stored on Google Drive. This includes the end-to-end encryption that protects your backup.

Because of this encryption, Google cannot view, access, or restore your messages, photos, or other media from your backup file.

For any issues with your backup, such as restoring it to a new phone or recovering media, visit the WhatsApp Help Center .
