You can ask the Gemini mobile app, including Gemini as your mobile assistant, to make phone calls for you with the Phone app. With the Phone app, Gemini can use your device’s calling app to call your contacts, businesses, and phone numbers directly.
What you need
- An Android phone or tablet.
- An active mobile phone plan for your device.
- The Gemini app, including as your mobile assistant. Learn more about the Gemini mobile app

- The Phone app isn’t available in Gemini in Google Messages or the Gemini web app.
- Save contact info from your signed-in devices on.
- Phone Android app permission given to the Google app. Learn how to manage Android app permissions .
Important:
- For now, this feature isn’t available in Live chats.
- Connected Apps are not available while using features powered directly by Google Assistant .
- Don’t use the Phone app in Gemini to call emergency services. Instead, use your device’s calling app directly to make an emergency call.
- On Android devices, you can ask Gemini to make calls at any time, even when Keep Activity
is off. If Keep Activity is off, a call request that requires certain other apps or Google services may not work. For example, asking Gemini to “call the nearest pizza place" would require Google Maps, which isn’t available if Keep Activity is off.
- On connected smartwatches, the Phone app isn’t available if Keep Activity is off.
Connect the Phone app
Important:The Phone app in Gemini is designed to work automatically with the Gemini mobile app. You can disconnect the Phone app anytime in your Connected Apps settings. Learn how to manage Connected Apps in Gemini .
- On your Android phone or tablet, open Gemini

- Ask it to make a call.
- If Gemini doesn’t use the Phone app, add
@Phoneto your prompt. If the app isn't connected, you’ll get the option to connect it.

- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Make a phone call
You can ask the Gemini mobile app to make a phone call for you, in a natural and conversational way.
Tip:By default, the Gemini mobile app uses the last app it used to call the same contact. If the Gemini app uses the Phone app, it uses your default phone app on your Android device. Learn how to change your default phone app .

Gemini can make a call based on a relationship (e.g., “call my sister”) if the relationship is saved in your instructions for Gemini.

Allow calls and text messages without unlocking your phone
You can ask Gemini to make calls and send text messages without unlocking your phone.

What Gemini can’t do with the Phone app
There are some actions that are available with Google Assistant that currently aren't available with the Phone app. For now, the Phone app can't help you accept or reject calls.
