Use captions in a Meet hardware video meeting

With Google meeting room hardware, you can make it easier to follow what’s being said in a meeting by turning on captions, which show text of the conversation.

Note: If you record a video meeting, you don't record captions. They don't appear when you play the recording.

Turn captions on or off

On Google Meet hardware

On the touchscreen, when in a meeting, tap Turn on captions  or Turn off captions  while in a call.

On Chromebox

Using the remote control, press Settings Turn on captions  or Turn off captions .

On Chromebase

On the bottom right of the touchscreen, tap Turn on captions  or Turn off captions .

Tip: If your meeting controls cover the captions, tap anywhere else in the Meet window to hide the controls.
