How to fix: Missing attribute value for grouped variants

Submit this value for all product variants in the same group

Why this issue is happening

You’ve submitted multiple products that use the same item group ID [item_group_id] , but don’t consistently include the same variant attributes. Variant attributes help to differentiate products that are similar, but vary by distinct features, such as size [size] , color [color] , condition [condition] , or gender [gender] . To ensure that we can correctly identify your products, either provide the same set of variant attributes for all products that use the same item group ID [item_group_id] , or do not provide the item group ID [item_group_id] for these products.

How to fix your issue

To fix this issue, search your product data for those products (using the ID). Make sure that for each product that uses this value for the item group ID [item_group_id] attribute, you have also submitted a unique value for a variant attribute, such as size [size] or color [color] .

Fix products one by one directly in Merchant Center

Step 1 Go to Productsin Merchant Center, then select the Needs attentiontab.

Step 2 Use the filter iconabove the table to find all products affected by your issue.

Step 3 Click on the title of the product you want to fix, then click Edit product.

Step 4 Make sure that for this product you have also submitted a unique value for a variant attribute, such as size [size] or color [color] .

Step 5 Click Save.

Fix multiple products at once

Step 1 Go to Productsin Merchant Center, then select the Needs attentiontab.

Step 2 Use the filter iconabove the table to find all products affected by your issue.

Step 3 Select the download iconto download a list (.csv) of all affected products for all issues or this particular issue.

Step 4 Cross reference the downloaded list with your uploaded product data, and make sure that for each product that uses this value for the item group ID [item_group_id] attribute, you have also submitted a unique value for a variant attribute, such as size [size] or color [color] .

Step 5 Reupload your corrected product data to Merchant Center using your chosen upload method.

After making the requested changes, check that you’ve fixed the issue by making sure it’s no longer listed on the “Needs attention” page.
