Flashcards or Quizzes help you master your material by turning information from your sources into interactive study aids.
- Open an existing notebook or create a new one and upload sources.
- To generate or delete flashcards or quizzes, you need edit access to a notebook.
- In the "Studio" panel, select "Flashcards" or “Quizzes” to start, or use the pencil icon to customize before generating. Your study aids will be generated in the background, so you can continue working in your notebook.
- (Optional) Within the customization panel, you can also express preferences for your flashcards or quizzes:
- Select the difficulty:Choose between easy, medium, and hard.
- Input a prompt:Input a prompt to describe the flashcards or quizzes you want to create. You can add a high-level outline, or guide the audience, style, and focus.
Study with Flashcards & Quizzes
Once generated, you can interact with your study aids to help improve your mastery:
- Choose the number:Select from fewer, standard, and more.
- Get explanations:Explain cards or answers by clicking the “Explain” button.
- Track progress:
- For flashcards, you can mark a flashcard as “Got it!” (checkmark) or “Missed it!” (crossmark)
- NotebookLM will remember your progress, and you can pick up where you left off if you leave and return.
- Review:At the end of your flashcards or quiz, you will see your results, and you can choose to review or retake.
- For flashcards, you can choose to practice again with “Same cards”, “All cards” or focus only on the specific concepts you struggled with by selecting “Only cards you missed.”
Flashcard Controls
You can manage your current deck using the available controls:
- Previousor Next arrowsto navigate to a different card.
- Full Screento expand the flashcard viewer
- Shufflethe order of the cards.
- Delete a cardto remove it from the deck.
- Restartthe session from the beginning.
- Downloadyour flashcards as a CSV file.
Quiz Controls
You can manage your current quiz using the available controls:
- Full Screento expand the quiz viewer.
- Hintfor some help thinking about a quiz question.
- Previousor Next arrows to navigate to a different question.
