Incredible Refrigerator
Kiki· Review provided by bosch-home.com · September 25, 2023
This has been the best refrigerator we've ever owned. My biggest takeaway is that our fruits and vegetables stay fresh noticeably longer than the refrigerators we've had in the past. The shelves are sturdy and very nice looking. It's weird to me that the veggie and fruit drawers don't close tightly but rather have a little space at the seam where the drawer meets the shelf. But again, my produce stays fresh for so much longer than any previous appliance, so it's obviously not an issue. The freezer looked to be on the small side when I first set it up but it's deceptively deep and spacious. Like the fridge, I've found that freezer items seem to stay fresh for longer and I have yet to find any kind of freezer burn on my food.

The ice maker and water have worked perfectly. My son especially loves the "bottle fill" function.

I do not like that you can only see the temperature you've set for the fridge/freezer; our old fridge had a function that shows the temperature setting and then the actual temperature. I keep a thermometer in the fridge so I can keep track of the actual temperature, due to some refrigerated medicine we keep. I notice that the temperature fluctuates greatly when I am unloading groceries or cleaning it, but it makes sense since I am repeatedly opening and closing the doors.

The app that allows you to see if the fridge or freezer door is open is handy. It sends notices if a door has been open for more than a minute, or if the ice maker is off. You can also activate the childproof lock and set things like vacation mode or an "ice bin full" notification. There's also a "super cool" or "super freeze" function which is meant to decrease the temperature rapidly, but I have yet to try that.

I can't imagine a better refrigerator/freezer, this has been well worth the cost!
Bosch Exceeded Expectations

We purchased a Bosch 500 series refrigerator just prior to Thanksgiving. Imagine having a turkey dinner ready to cook, the entire family about to arrive but no working refrigerator! Fortunately, we had an old dorm room table top frig to move the food into and avoid disaster. Out we went to find a replacement ASAP. We considered many brands to replace the defunct unit. We wanted a stainless finish, ice and water dispenser accessible on the outside, and the refrigerator had to fit our counter depth cabinet design. After looking at a number of brands, Bosch was the winner for a number of reasons. First was the quality. The stainless finish was superior to less expensive brands. Most pother brands had a stainless front and sides that seemed flimsy and a nonstainless back panel. The Bosch has a full stainless steel back, more substatnial doors and handles, adjustable interior LED lighting, and a configuration of shelves, drawers and door space was perfect for our needs. We are amazed at how quiet the Bosch is compared to the 4 brands we owned previously. The design of the freezer compartment is very practical. The space is configurable and the freezer door opens and closes smoothly. I was initially wary of the wifi connection that sends alerts about "door is opened a long time" or "change water filter" because, we already have message overload from our car, furnace, security cameras, thermostat and children (OK, we are glad to get messages from the children). The Bosch only bothers us if it really needs to. There are few downsides to this refrigerator. The long bottom drawer is useful but it has a bump in the middle that can get in the way. The water dispenser tends to spash a bit if you are trying to fill a small glass but it works perfectly on normal sized glasses, a thermose or mugs. This is a great product and we are very happy that we made the purchase.
Beware the ice maker

There are (2) separate reviews here - one for the product and one for the Lowe's Protection Plan. We purchased this refrigerator in March of 2023, and in July 2024 the icemaker stopped working just outside the manufacturer warranty (as it seems to do for many people). But, we had purchased the 5-year protection plan from Lowe's, so we filed a claim which was quickly approved.

We thought all was good until the assigned repair shop called us and said they do not work on Bosch icemakers. No problem, contact Lowe's and let them know. The response from Lowe's was to issue us a refund on the purchase price of the appliance (plus tax). Sounded good until I got on line and realized that the price of the refrigerator is $1,000 more than what we paid, so the refund will not cover a replacement.

Very disappointed that the ice maker failed so quickly (I should have read more reviews before purchasing), moreso that the protection plan is failing to replace the appliance. I expected better quality from Bosch and better customer service from Lowe's. Don't waste your money on the protection plan, the marketing copy and the legal T&C's don't match up.

We are now looking at having to come up with a bunch of money to re-buy a low-quality appliance, or go through the hassle of shopping another retailer and brand. Our previous refrigerator lasted 18 years, this one didn't make it to 18 months...
Couldn't be Happier

Although this is a review of my wonderful new refrigerator, it all started when I bought a Bosch dishwasher. I was tired, at the age of 74, to having to wash my dishes before I put them in the dishwasher so after reading some reviews I purchased the Bosch dishwasher. Other than scraping large pieces of food off the plates, they don't even need to be lightly rinsed. AND, I don't run the dishwasher but once of twice a week. Everything comes out sparkling! Now, about that refrigerator -- it's a great design starting with an exterior that doesn't get fingerprints. The water and icemaker on the outside takes up little room on the inside the operates smoothly. Inside are easy to clean glass shelves that are adjustable, drawers that keep my fresh vegetables fresh and space in the doors for large drink containers and other items you might access frequently. I've lived in four states, had homes built and several different brands of kitchen appliances. I'm only sorry I didn't find Bosch first!
