I purchased two Leviton Decora Smart switches to be used...
I purchased two Leviton Decora Smart switches to be used in a 3-way setup. One switch serves as the master and the second is the companion switch, i.e., same brand of switch but different models. I know that the wiring configuration for 3-way smart switches are different than for non smart 3-way wiring so need to rely on the instructions to properly wire them. Unfortunately the wiring instructions for the two switches have different instructions, so I have no idea of the correct way they should be wired. I've reached out to Leviton technical support (Decora smart switches team) for clarification but it's been almost a week with no reply. Planning to return both switches.
Works - sort of - but not worth the headaches
I bought these because of an immediate need and my local Home Depot had them in stock. This was a mistake for the following reasons:
- No external 'disconnect' or 'reset' switch
- Tends to get into a 'program' phase where the indicator light flashes between red and yellow
- Functionality doesn't seem to get lost when in this 'program' phase, but the flashing is annoying
- Only way to stop this is to either pull the switch from the wall and disconnect the power, or open the circuit breaker feeding it
- Full Z-Wave association is flaky (so it's nearly impossible to 'associate' this device with another)
- Operation with Homeseer is flaky
The case on this device is larger than other competitor's devices, making it harder to install in a box with more than the minimum wires installed for functionality.
There are other Z-Wave devices out there that are more cost-effective and operate better, so I'd look elsewhere.

I have been replacing my standard light switches with smart switches for about 5 years now. This switch is miles ahead of the first Levitons I bought back then. Z-Wave devices need a hub to connect to. I started with the Wink Hub but the hub wasn't very reliable. The manufacturer thought they could fix everything by charging a monthly fee for a service that just continued to deteriorate.. I then went with Hubitat--which handled the Leviton switches perfectly. I'm now on my third iteration of hubs using "Home Assistant." Through each hub, Leviton has been consistently good. They work with both Google Home and Alexa, and they can even be programmed to coordinate with security cameras. When the driveway camera senses someone approaching my home, the Leviton porch and driveway lights turn on automatically--and then turn off when there's no activity on the camera. It's also nice to read in bed and then just tell Google to turn off the bedroom light when I'm ready to call it a night..

The overall switch is great, works just as it should and is easy to install. I encountered a problem because of confusing packaging by Leviton and a subsequent mix-up by HomeDepot. The same item number, DZ15S,is used for two products: UPC code ending in 06700 is for the white switch with a white wallplate, UPC code ending in 76490 is for a switch with an interchangeable face (both white and light almond are included), but no wallplate. Choose the latter if you are replacing an existing switch (white or light almond). Choose the former if you are installing a new white switch.
