You can choose from 12 different preset AI avatars. Each has a different look and built-in voice. When you use these AI avatars, you can add spoken content without the need to record audio.
Each week you can generate up to 20 AI avatar generations. Each generated avatar video has a maximum length of up to 30 seconds. The weekly limit resets 7 days after your first AI avatar generation at 12:00 AM PST. Limits are subject to change. Learn about limits for Google Vids .
Use AI avatars
- On your computer, open Google Vids .
- Select a video.
- Or, you can click Start a new video.
- Open the scene where you want to insert your AI avatar.
- To open the “AI Avatar” side panel, in the sidebar, click Avatar
.
- To add a script to your scene and have your AI avatar narrate, click Add your script.
- To change your AI avatar, below the script, click Edit
.
- To preview AI avatar voices, hover over the options.
- Each AI avatar comes with a predefined voice.
- Click the avatar you want to use Select Preview.
- Click Generate.
After the AI avatar video is generated, it’s automatically added to the scene which you wrote the script for.
Tip:Generating an avatar may take a few minutes. Do not close the Vids window while it generates.
Match AI avatars & voiceovers
You can match AI avatar voices with AI voiceover options in Google Vids. This maintains a consistent voice throughout videos that mix AI avatars and AI voiceovers. For example:
- AI avatar Olivia’s voice matches the “Coach” option.

The AI avatars are created through generative AI and are not real people. Usage of this feature is subject to the Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy .

Gemini for Google Workspace is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request.
If you get a generation that’s inaccurate or that you feel is unsafe, you can let us know by submitting feedback. Your feedback can help improve AI-assisted Workspace features and broader Google efforts in AI.
Because feedback may be human readable, do not submit data that contains personal, confidential, or sensitive information.
To provide feedback on AI avatars, after you add an AI avatar to your video, in the pop-up, rate the avatar as Goodor Bad
