Pricing for channel memberships on YouTube

Note:Starting May 2025, pricing updates for channel memberships will be rolling out gradually. If you’re signing up for a channel membership, pricing may change based on when you join. If you're creating channel memberships for the first time, please check the pricing for your country or region .

Channel memberships are available to viewers in the many countries/regions . Memberships may be priced differently for viewers depending on their location.

Understand how channel membership pricing works

YouTube’s channel membership prices are updated to reflect current foreign exchange rates, ensuring fair pricing for your global audience.

Here’s how recent pricing updates affect different members:

  • New members:Price updates only apply to new members who join after the changes are live on your channel.
  • Existing members:Your current members will continue to pay the price at which they originally signed up. Their price will not change at this time.
    • If a member cancels and then rejoins later, they will pay the current price available for new members, not their previous price.

You can also adjust prices for new members while retaining your existing levels and members. You have the option to update your prices for new members once every 12 months from your first price change.

Note:After you receive formal email notice, you can update to the recommended market prices for new members at that time or wait for these changes to be updated automatically 60 days after you receive email notice.

Best practices for communicating pricing changes

Be transparent with your community when you have changes to your channel membership. We recommend making a video or a Community post to tell them what’s happening before the changes goes live.

For price changes due to foreign exchange rate updates

  • Talk about sustainability:Explain that these updates help you keep making the content and perks they love for a long time.
  • Explain global fairness:Share that prices are being updated by YouTube so that the value of your membership is fair in every country to reflect exchange rates.
  • Communicate new rates:Remind fans that if they cancel their membership and join again later, they will pay the updated price.

If you change your own prices

  • Connect price to value:Tell your fans about any new perks you’re adding or why it costs more to make your videos.
  • Set expectations for the future:Be honest with your fans. While current members are not affected now, prices may change in the future.
