A few years after his arrival in Milan (1482), Leonardo tried to join the Sforza court by introducing himself to Duke Ludovico il Moro as an expert in military engineering. In the draft letter (not an autograph, but written by a friend or collaborator of him) he focuses mainly on his military skills, and only at the end does he mention his artistic ability.
