As First Lady, Mamie came into her own as an influential supporter of humanitarian causes.

Mamie Doud Eisenhower , was the wife of President Dwight Eisenhower and First Lady from 1953 to 1961. After completing her education at Denver’s Miss Wolcott School for Girls in 1915, she met Second Lieutenant Dwight Eisenhower. They married the next year at the Doud’s Denver home. She braved the nomadic life of a General’s wife with grace and dignity. The Eisenhowers were regular visitors to Denver, affectionately known as the “Summer White House.”
