Lohans, or Arhats in Sanskrit meaning “perfect saints”, were disciples of the Buddha . Attaining an advanced state of spiritual enlightenment, they were revered as the protectors of Buddhist law. Generally represented in groups, lohans are depicted as engaged in thought, alert, and self-confident. Nakula sits quietly cultivating his mind. He is calm, composed, serene, and dignified allowing him to enter paradise.
