The extraordinary inflation in Germany in the 1920s caused a shortage in banknotes. The Central Bank of Germany simply could not produce enough money . Companies, agencies and communities issued their own paper currency to cover the shortage. This banknote was issued by the Stuttgart division of the State Railway.
