Short dragonfish

This is an x-ray image of a short dragonfish along with a corresponding photograph of the specimen in identical pose. The broad , expanded pectoral fins of this small marine fish recall the wings of mythical dragons. Despite their fierce appearance, dragonfish are harmless to humans and eat only crustaceans and insects .
