During excavations in the Old Town of Hamburg , late Saxon pottery was mostly found. Slavic pottery products, however, were discovered as well. These pots could have reached Hammaburg as trade goods or as packaging for valuable items, but they could also indicate that there was a settlement of Slavic potters in Hamburg .
